The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Consumer Affairs) issued Notification S.O. 5402(E) on 25th November, 2025, announcing the appointment of Shri Sanjay Garg, IAS (KL:94), as Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards. This appointment, made by the Central Government in pursuance of Department of Personnel & Training's Order No.36/01/2025-EO(SM-I) dated 22nd August, 2025, is effective from 01st November, 2025 (F/N) and remains until further orders. Shri Garg will hold the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, with the appointment made under the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
