The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Consumer Affairs) issued Notification S.O. 4866(E) on 2nd September, 2026, in New Delhi. In exercise of powers conferred by section 24(2)(d) of the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2026 (No. 17 of 2026), read with Office Memorandum No. J-18/57/2026-JUDICIAL/E.195818 dated 27.08.2026 from the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, the Central Government has extended the tenure of the President and eight Members of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC). The extension is for a period of five years from their respective dates of appointment, or until the President attains 70 years of age, or Members attain 67 years of age, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest. The affected individuals and their original appointment details are: Justice Amreshwar Pratap Sahi, President (02.08.2023, vide S.O. 3564(E) dated 09.08.2023); Justice Mr. Sudip Ahluwalia, Member (05.08.2022, vide S.O. 3916(E) dated 22.08.2022 and S.O. 4302(E) dated 31.07.2026); Dr. Inder Jit Singh, Member; Air Vice Marshal Jonnalagadda Rajendra, AVSM VSM, Member (13.07.2023, vide S.O. 3335(E) dated 26.07.2023); Shri Bharatkumar Pandya, Member (03.08.2023, vide S.O. 3576(E) dated 09.08.2023); Dr. Sadhna Shanker, Member (04.08.2023, vide S.O. 3576(E) dated 09.08.2023); Justice Saroj Yadav, Member (13.08.2024, vide S.O. 3822(E) dated 28.08.2024); and Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta, Member (09.04.2025, vide S.O. 1762(E) dated 16.04.2025). The terms and conditions of these appointments will continue to be regulated by the provisions of the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2026, and any other relevant instructions issued by the Central Government.
