G.S.R. 555(E) dated 26 July 2023, issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training), under sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (LXI of 1951) read with sub-rule (1) and (2) of Rule 4 of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, and made in consultation with the Government of Nagaland, promulgates the Indian Police Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Second Amendment Regulations, 2023, effective from the date of publication. The amendment substitutes the Schedule entry for Nagaland in the Indian Police Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1955, setting Senior Duty Posts at 44 (individually listing posts such as Director General of Police, Additional DGPs, Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General, Superintendents of Police, Commissioner/Deputy Commissioners of Police and others, each carrying 1 post), Central Deputation Reserve (not exceeding 40% of item 1) at 17, State Deputation Reserve (25%) at 11, Training Reserve (3.5%) at 1, Leave Reserve and Junior Posts Reserve (16.5%) at 7, posts to be filled by promotion under Rule 9 of the Indian Police Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954 (33 1/3%) at 24, and posts to be filled by Direct Recruitment at 56, giving a revised Total Authorized Strength of 80, up from 75 prior to this notification. The principal regulations were published vide SRO No. 3351 dated 22nd October 1955 and were previously amended by twelve listed GSR notifications issued between 1986 and 2017. (1) These Regulations may be called the Indian Police Service (Fixation of cadre Strength) Second Amendment Regulations, 2023. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2.
