The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training) issued Notification G.S.R. 709(E) on August 6, 2026, enacting the Indian Police Service (Pay) Third Amendment Rules, 2026. These rules, made by the Central Government in consultation with the Government of Haryana under sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), amend the Indian Police Service (Pay) Rules, 2016, originally published vide G.S.R. 910(E) dated September 23, 2016. The amendment primarily substitutes the entries for 'Haryana' in Schedule II, Part A, pertaining to posts carrying pay above the senior scale, and in Part B, concerning posts carrying pay in the senior scale under the State Governments. For Part A, specific posts such as Director General of Police, Additional Director General of Police, Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police, and Joint Commissioner of Police are assigned new pay levels (Level 17, Level 16, Level 15, Level 14, Level 13A) within the Pay Matrix. For Part B, a comprehensive list of Superintendent of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commandant, and Assistant Inspector General of Police posts for various districts and units within Haryana is substituted. NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 6th August, 2026

G.S.R. 709(E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the All India
Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), the Central Government, in consultation with the Government of Haryana hereby
makes the following rules further to amend the Indian Police Service (Pay) Rules, 2016, namely:—

1. (1) These rules may be called the Indian Police Service (Pay) Third Amendment Rules, 2026.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the official Gazette.

2. In the Indian Police Service (Pay) Rules, 2016, in schedule II–
(a) In Part A relating to posts carrying pay above the senior scale of pay of the Indian Police Service under the State
Governments, in the table, for the entry "Haryana" occurring in the first column and corresponding entries in the
second column, the following shall be substituted namely:
