The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training) issued Notification G.S.R. 43(E) on January 19, 2026, in New Delhi, to amend the Indian Forest Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1966. Exercising powers under sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the All India Service Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), read with sub-rules (1) and (2) of Rule 4 of the Indian Forest Service (Cadre) Rules, 1966, the Central Government, in consultation with the Government of Tripura, enacted the Indian Forest Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Amendment Regulations, 2026. These regulations substitute the Schedule entries for 'Tripura' in the 1966 Regulations, revising the total authorized cadre strength from 60 to 62. The new structure for Tripura includes 39 Senior Duty Posts under the State Government, 7 Central Deputation Reserve posts, 9 State Deputation Reserve posts, 1 Training Reserve post, and 6 Leave Reserve and Junior Posts Reserve posts. Additionally, 18 posts are to be filled by promotion under Rule 8 of the Indian Forest Service (Recruitment) Rules 1966, and 44 posts by direct recruitment. The principal regulations were originally notified vide notification No.6/1/66-AIS (IV), dated 31-10-1966 (GSR No.1072).

(i) These regulations shall be called the Indian Forest Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Amendment Regulations, 2026. (ii) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2.
