G.S.R. 84 9(E).—Whereas a draft of certain rules to amend sub -rule (1) of rule 15 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017 were published, as required by sub -section (1) of section 100 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016), vide notification of the Government of Indi a the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities number G.S.R. 407(E), dated the 21st June 2023 published in the Ga zette of India, Extraordinary, Part -II, section 3, sub -section (i) inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby, before the expiry of thirty days from the date on which the copies of the Official Gazette in which this notification is published are made available to the public; And whereas copies of the said notification were made available to the public on the 2nd June, 2023; And whereas the objections and suggestions received from the public in respect of the said no tification have been considered by the Central Government; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub -sections (1) and (2) of section 100 of the R ights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016), the Central Government hereby make s the following rules further to amend the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, namely: - (1) These rules may be called the Rights of Persons with Disab ilities (Amendment) Rules, 2023. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publicat ion in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, in rule 1 5, in sub -rule (1), after clause (g), the following clause shall b e inserted , namely: - “(h) rural sector specific harmo nized accessibility standards/ guidelines , as specified in the notification of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India vide notification number G.S.R. 77, dated the 26th June, 2023.” [No. I-12012/1/2022 -AIC] RAJEEV SHARMA , Jt.
