Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Consumer Affairs), through notification S.O. 1762(E) dated 16th April, 2025, has exercised powers under Section 3(2) of the Tribunals Reform Act, 2021 and Rule 3(12) of the Tribunal (Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021. With the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), conveyed via Department of Personnel and Training communication dated 25.03.2025, the Central Government has appointed Justice Dr. Sudhir Kumar Jain and Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta as Members of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC). Their date of joining the NCDRC is 09th April, 2025 (Forenoon). The appointment is for a period of four years or until they attain the age of 67 years or until further orders, whichever event occurs earliest. The terms and conditions of these appointments will be regulated by the provisions of the Tribunals Reform Act, 2021, the Tribunal (Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021, and other instructions issued by the Central Government.
