In exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), read with sub-rules (1) and (2) of rule 4 of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, the Central Government, in consultation with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, enacted the Indian Administrative Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Second Amendment Regulations, 2026. These regulations amend the Indian Administrative Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1955, which were originally published vide SRO No. 3350 dated October 22, 1955. The amendment substitutes the previous entries for the Andhra Pradesh cadre in the Schedule with new figures, establishing a total authorized strength of 259 posts for the Andhra Pradesh Cadre. This represents an increase from the previous total authorized strength of 239. The new cadre strength includes 141 Senior Duty Posts under the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, a Central Deputation Reserve of 56 posts, a State Deputation Reserve of 35 posts, a Training Reserve of 4 posts, and a Leave Reserve and Junior Posts Reserve of 23 posts. Additionally, 78 posts are to be filled by promotion under Rule 8 of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, and 181 posts by Direct Recruitment.
