The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training) issued Notification G.S.R. 833(E) on 11th November, 2025, exercising powers under sub-section (1) of section 3 of the All-India Service Act, 1951 (61 of 1951). In consultation with State Governments and the Union Public Service Commission, the Central Government promulgated the Indian Police Service (Probationers' Final Examination) Amendment Rules, 2025, which come into force upon publication in the Official Gazette. These rules amend the Indian Police Service (Probationers' Final Examination) Rules, 2023 (originally published vide G.S.R. 377 (E) dated 19th May, 2023). Specifically, in rule 3, sub-rule (1), within Part-I relating to Compulsory Indoor Subjects, the following substitutions are made in the Table: 'Indian Penal Code, 1860' is replaced by 'Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023' for Paper I; 'Indian Evidence Act, 1872' is replaced by 'Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023' for Paper II; and 'Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973' is replaced by 'Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023' for Paper III.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the All-India Service Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), the Central Government, in consultation with the State Governments and the Union Public Service Commission, hereby makes the following rules to amend the Indian Police Service (Probationers' Final Examination) Rules, 2023, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement. - (1) These rules may be called the Indian Police Service (Probationers' Final Examination) Amendment Rules, 2025. 2. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. In the Indian Police Service (Probationers' Final Examination) Rules, 2023, in rule 3, in sub-rule (1), in Part- I relating to Compulsory Indoor Subjects, in the Table,- (a) against the entry relating to Paper I, for the words and figures "Indian Penal Code, 1860", the words and figures "Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023” shall be substituted; (b) against the entry relating to Paper II, for the words and figures "Indian Evidence Act, 1872", the words and figures "Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023" shall be substituted; (c) against the entry relating to Paper III, for the words and figures "Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973”, the words and figures "Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023" shall be substituted.
