CORRIGENDUM
New Delhi, the 6th April, 2026
F. No. 1(6)/2024-ID-2.— In partial modification of the Green Steel Taxonomy Notification issued vide
F. No. 1(6)/2024-ID-2 dated the 23rd December, 2024, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part I, Section
1, Para 12 of the Notification regarding issuance of Green Steel Certificate is modified as under:
Para 12: Existing: The certificate shall be issued on yearly basis (financial year). In case the steel plants opt for MRV
more frequently, then the certificate may be issued more than once in a year as per the requirement.
Para 12: Modified: (i) The certificate shall be issued on yearly basis (financial year). In case the steel plants opt for
product-wise certification then the product specific MRV can be done as per the requirement during the year and the
certificate may be issued for batch(es) of the product anytime in a year as per the requirement.
(ii) If a producer applies in the subsequent financial year (FY) for the continuation of an existing annual green-rated
certificate and submits the required data for that next FY, the validity of the issued Green Steel Certificates may
be provisionally extended until June of the contiguous FY, subject to the MRV results for the next FY, in order to
facilitate a smooth transition and ensure compliance under the Green Steel Certification framework.
(iii) The National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology (NISST), being the designated implementing agency for
issuance of Green Steel Certificates, may grant aforesaid provisional extension of validity of annual Green Steel
certificates.
(iv) Extension of validity under this provision shall be applicable only to those units that have applied for certification
for the immediate succeeding financial year.
(v) In case the applicant does not qualify for green rating or qualifies for lower category the aforesaid extension will
cease to exist retrospectively on 31st March of the year.
(vi) NISST shall submit a consolidated monthly report including justification of such extensions to Ministry of Steel.
2. This Corrigendum shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
