These revised norms are effective from April 1, 2026, for State Governments and Union territories that comply with reforms in section 12 of the National Food Security Act, 2013, and Central Government directions. For the General category, Intra-State movement and handling is 70 rupees per quintal, Basic margin is 100 rupees per quintal, Additional margin for point-of-sale device is 11 rupees per quintal, with a Central share of 50%. For the Special category, Intra-State movement and handling is 105 rupees per quintal, Basic margin is 195 rupees per quintal, Additional margin for point-of-sale device is 11 rupees per quintal, with a Central share of 75%. Short title and commencement. - (1) These rules may be called the Food Security (Assistance to State Governments) Amendment Rules, 2026. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2.
