NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 1st July, 2026
G.S.R. 544(E). — In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (e) of sub-section (2) of section 39
read with clause (d) of sub-section (4) of section 22 of the National Food Security Act, 2013 (20 of 2013),
the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Food Security (Assistance to
State Governments) Rules, 2015 namely:-
1. Short title and commencement. - (1) These rules may be called the Food Security (Assistance to State
Governments) Amendment Rules, 2026.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Food Security (Assistance to State Governments) Rules, 2015, in rule 7 for sub-rule (1A) the
following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely :-
"(1A) The revised norms of expenditure (in rupee per quintal) of Central assistance to the State Governments
and Union territories in the General category or Special category, as specified in the Explanation to sub-rule
(1) and the limit of the share of the Central Government thereto (in percentage) as specified in the table
below, shall be provided with effect from the 1st day of April, 2026 to those State Governments and Union
territories who comply with the reforms specified in section 12 and the directions given by the Central
Government from time to time, namely:-
