These regulations, effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, amend the Schedule to the Indian Administrative Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1955, by substituting the entries for 'Sikkim.' The amendment details the new cadre strength for Sikkim, maintaining a Total Authorized Strength of 48. This includes 27 Senior Duty Posts under the State Government (comprising 1 Chief Secretary, 1 Additional Chief Secretary, 4 Principal Secretaries, 8 Commissioner-cum-Secretaries, 9 Secretaries/Joint/Deputy Secretaries, and 4 District Magistrates/Collectors), a Central Deputation Reserve of 10, a State Deputation Reserve of 6, a Training Reserve of 1, and a Leave Reserve and Junior Posts Reserve of 4. Furthermore, 14 posts are to be filled by promotion under Rule 8 of The Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, and 34 by Direct Recruitment. The principal regulations were originally published vide SRO No. 3350 dated October 22, 1955, and have been subsequently amended for other cadres, such as West Bengal, with examples like G.S.R. 658(E) dated August 25, 2015.
