The Ministry of Minority Affairs, in exercise of powers under section 44 of the Haj Committee Act, 2002 (35 of 2002), made the Haj Committee (Amendment) Rules, 2024, amending the Haj Committee Rules, 2002, effective from the date of publication. In rule 5, sub-rule (2), clause (a), sub-clause (ii), the words "Ministry of External Affairs" are substituted with "Ministry of Minority Affairs"; sub-rule (4) is substituted to provide that the Ministry of Minority Affairs shall request the Union Ministries of External Affairs, Home Affairs, Finance (Department of Revenue) and Civil Aviation to each nominate an officer not below the rank of Joint Secretary as ex-officio members of the Committee under clause (iii) of section 4. In rule 11, sub-rule (1), second proviso, and in rule 27, sub-rule (2), clause (b), "Ministry of External Affairs" is likewise substituted with "Ministry of Minority Affairs". In exercise of the powers conferred by section 44 of the Haj Committee Act, 2002, (35 of 2002), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules to amend the Haj Committee Rules, 2002, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement.– (1) These rules may be called the Haj Committee (Amendment) Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Haj Committee Rules, 2002 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), in rule 5,— (i) in sub-rule (2), in clause (a), in sub-clause (ii), for the words "Ministry of External Affairs", the words "Ministry of Minority Affairs " shall be substituted; (ii) for sub-rule (4), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely:— "(4)The Ministry of Minority Affairs in the Central Government shall request Union Ministries of External Affairs, Home Affairs, Finance (Department of Revenue) and Civil Aviation to nominate one officer each, not below the rank of the Joint Secretary to the Government of India, serving in the respective Ministries, as ex- officio members of the Committee as specified in clause (iii) of section 4.”; 3. In the said rules, in rule 11, in sub-rule (1), in the second proviso, for the words "Ministry of External Affairs", the words "Ministry of Minority Affairs" shall be substituted. 4. In the said rules, in rule 27, in sub-rule (2), in clause (b), for the words "Ministry of External Affairs", the words "Ministry of Minority Affairs” shall be substituted. [F.
