Publication of Notification regarding extension of the tenure of the Commission set up under the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1952

Whereas, the Commission of Inquiry (hereinafter called the said Commission) was constituted on 6th October, 2022 vide notification number S.O. 4742(E) under section 3 of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952 (60 of 1952), to examine the matter of according Scheduled Castes status to new persons, who claim to historically have belonged to Scheduled Castes but have converted to religion other than those mentioned in the Presidential Orders issued from time to time under article 341 of the Constitution, and matters related thereto; And whereas, the said Commission was required to submit its report and recommendations on or before the 10th October, 2024; And whereas, the said Commission had requested to renew the tenure of the Commission for finalizing its reports and recommendations; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952 (60 of 1952), the Central Government hereby extend the tenure of the Commission, for a period of one year with effect from 11th October, 2024 to 10th October, 2025. 2.
