Core Purpose

This corrigendum amends the introductory paragraph of Notification No.F.3(10)/2025/Archy/1114 dated 11th June, 2025, issued by the Department of Archaeology, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, concerning the declaration of the Gumti of Shaikh Ali monument as a protected monument.

Detailed Summary

This Corrigendum, issued by the Department of Archaeology, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi on August 12, 2025, corrects the first paragraph of its previous Notification No.F.3(10)/2025/Archy/1114 dated June 11, 2025, which was published in the Delhi Gazette of Indian Extraordinary, Part-IV, Issue No. 178. The original paragraph stated that the declaration of the Gumti of Shaikh Ali monument as protected was 'in pursuance to the directions of Hon'ble Supreme Court of India vide Orders dated 18/02/2025, 25/03/2025, 08/04/2025, 14/05/2025 and 16/05/2025 in the matter SLP (C) 12213/2019 titled 'Rajiv Suri Vs Archaeological Survey of India and Ors''. The corrected paragraph now clarifies that the monument's declaration as protected, under Section 4 of The Delhi Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 2004 (Delhi Act 9 of 2005), is because it 'has been subject to alteration, injury, defacement and is in danger of falling into decay, which has led to a litigation, i.e., SLP (C) 12213/2019 titled 'Rajiv Suri Vs Archaeological Survey of India and Ors' which is pending before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India', and that the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has decided to declare it protected. The corrigendum is issued by order and in the name of the Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi and signed by Vivek Agarwal, Director.
