The Department of Environment, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, issued Notification F. No. 10 (13)/Env/2015/807 on 4th May, 2026, revising the Environment Compensation Charge (ECC) on Delhi-bound commercial vehicles. This revision is in pursuance of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India's order dated 12.03.2026 in W.P. (C) No. 13029/1985 (M.C. Mehta v. Union of India), which approved recommendations from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). This notification supersedes/modifies earlier related notifications, including F.No.10(13)/Env/2015/6167-6189 dated 20.10.2015, F.No.10(13)/Env/2015/7400-7422 dated 23.12.2015, F.No.10(13)/Env/2015/98-130/direnv/12-34 dated 05.01.2016, F.No.10(13)/Env/2015/436-458 dated 21.01.2016, and F.No.10(13)/Env/2015/2878-2900 dated 26.04.2016. The revised rates for Category 2 (Light Duty Vehicles) and Category 3 (2 Axle Trucks) increase from ₹1400/- to ₹2000/-, and for Category 4 (3 Axle Trucks) and Category 5 (4 Axle Trucks and above), they increase from ₹2600/- to ₹4000/-. These revised ECC rates become effective from 01.04.2026 and will be enhanced by 5% annually from this date, rounded to the nearest ₹10, as per Supreme Court directions and CAQM recommendations. Implementation, collection, and enforcement will be carried out by concerned authorities consistent with Supreme Court directives. The notification was issued by order and in the name of the Lt. No. 10 (13)/Env/2015/807.-In pursuance of the order dated 12.03.2026 passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in W.P. (C) No. 13029/1985 (M.C. Mehta v. Union of India), whereby the recommendations of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) regarding revision of Environment Compensation Charge (ECC) have been approved, and in supersession/modification of earlier notifications issued in this regard, the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi hereby revises the Environment Compensation Charge (ECC) on Delhi-bound commercial vehicles as under: +-------+---------------------------------------------+----------------+----------------+ | S. The revised ECC rates shall come into effect from 01.04.2026 and shall thereafter be enhanced by 5% every year, with effect from the said date, rounded off to the nearest ₹10, in accordance with the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court and the recommendations of CAQM. 3. The implementation, collection and enforcement mechanism for the revised ECC rates shall be carried out by the concerned authorities in a manner consistent with the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court.
