Detailed Summary

In supersession of earlier notifications, the Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, through the Land and Building Department, issued a notification on January 2, 2026 (F. No. 1/36/Panel/02/L&B/WC/Part-III/127-139) to appoint advocates as Government Pleaders/Counsels. These appointments are made under Sub-Section (7) of Section 2 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, for the High Court of Delhi at New Delhi and District Courts at Delhi. The appointed counsels will handle Suits, Appeals, CWPs, CCPs, RFAs, LPAs, and other proceedings by or against the Government of NCT of Delhi and/or the Union of India, specifically relating to affairs of the Land & Building Department, Land Acquisition Collector, and Public Officer(s) whose defence is undertaken. The appointments are for a period of two years, from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2027. A total of 29 advocates are appointed for the High Court, 43 for District Courts, and 11 for Miscellaneous Cases. The appointment is terminable on one-month notice from either side and is subject to the terms and conditions outlined in Notification No.F.5 (2)/07/Lit./303-310 dated March 18, 2008, for the High Court, and F.5 (1)/2000-Lit./13289 dated October 5, 2000, for the District and Subordinate Courts, both issued by the Department of Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, and other prescribed terms.
