The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, by notification G.S.R. 81(E) dated 30th January 2024, declares the whole of the Union Territory of Ladakh as an Air Pollution Control Area with effect from the date of publication, exercising powers under section 6 and sub-section (1) of section 19 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 (14 of 1981), read with rule 8 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) (Union Territories) Rules, 1983, after consultation with the Ladakh Pollution Control Committee; the notification follows a draft version, G.S.R. 372(E) dated 16.05.2023, which was made available to the public on 16.05.2023 and drew no objections or suggestions during the prescribed sixty-day period, and is signed by Naresh Pal Gangwar, Additional Secretary, under File No. Q-15014/03/2023-CPA.
