The National Highway Authority of India, through a notification dated 9th September, 2025 (F No. NHAI/PIU-BNG(EXP)/NE-07/BNG-CHE/Toll/2025), has exercised powers conferred under Section 35 of "The Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002" to prohibit certain classes of vehicles from using the Bangalore Chennai Expressway (NE-07). This Four-Lane fully access-controlled expressway starts at its junction with NH-75 at Km. 0+000 near Hoskote in Karnataka, connects various places in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, and terminates near Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. The prohibition is due to safety risks posed by speed differentials, as the expressway is a high-speed corridor with notified speed limits ranging from 80 km/hour to 120 km/hour, as per Notification No. S.O. 1522 (E) dated 6th April, 2018. The prohibited vehicle classes include: Motorcycles (including scooters and other wheelers), Three wheelers (including e-Carts and e-Rickshaws), Non-motorized vehicles, Tractors Special with or without trailers, Multi Axle Hydraulic Trailer Vehicles, and Quadri-cycles. L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-30122025-268925 EXTRAORDINARY PART III-Section 4 PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 832] NEW DELHI, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2025/PAUSHA 5, 1947 8744 GI/2025 NATIONAL HIGHWAY AUTHORITY OF INDIA NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 9th September, 2025 F No. NHAI/PIU-BNG(EXP)/NE-07/BNG-CHE/Toll/2025— Whereas, the Bangalore Chennai Expressway (NE-07) is being developed as on Four-Lane fully access controlled expressway, starting from its junction with NH-75 at Km. 0+000 near Hoskote connecting Malur, Bangarpet & Bethamangala in the state of Karnataka, Baireddipalle, Palamaner and Chittoor in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Gudipala, Ponnai, Sholinghur, Walajapettai, Arakkonam, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur and terminating at its junction with old NH No.04 near Sriperumbudur in the state of Tamil nadu; And whereas there have been and are alternative routes and roads available to the public for linking the above places/accessing various destination points before the development of this Expressway; And whereas this Expressway has been developed as a high-speed corridor and the maximum speed limits for Motor Vehicles of various descriptions for the Expressway have been notified varying between 80 km/hour to 120 km/hour vide Notification bearing No. S.O. 1522 (E) dated 6th April, 2018; And whereas the movement of high-speed vehicles may pose risk to the safety of certain classes of comparatively slow-moving vehicles e.g. two wheelers, three wheelers and other slow-moving vehicles like non- motorized vehicles, agricultural tractors (with or without trailers) due to their vulnerability and associated speed differentials and compromise the road safety aspects. NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 35 of "The Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002", it is hereby ordered that the following classes of vehicles are prohibited from using the Bangalore Chennai Expressway (NE-07): i. Motorcycles (including scooters and other wheelers); ii. Three wheelers (including e-Carts and e-Rickshaws); iii. Non-motorized vehicles; iv. Tractors Special with or without trailers v.
