Issued by the National Highways Authority of India on September 27, 2024 (F.No.NHAI/PIU-LudhianaExpressway/Dake/Pkg-1toPkg-12/AccessControlNotification/E-247810), this order, made under Section 35 of the Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002, prohibits specified classes of slow-moving vehicles from using the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway (NE-5), a four-lane fully access-controlled expressway running from its junction with KMP near Jasore Kheri village through Jhajjar, Sonipat, Rohtak, Jind, Kaithal and Karnal districts in Haryana and Patiala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Gurdaspur districts in Punjab, terminating at its junction with NH-54. Speed limits on the expressway (80-120 km/hour) had earlier been notified vide S.O. 1522(E) dated April 6, 2018. The prohibited classes are motor cycles (including scooters), three-wheelers (including e-carts and e-rickshaws), non-motorized vehicles, tractors (with or without trailers), multi-axle hydraulic trailer vehicles, and quadricycles.
