New Delhi, the 21st January, 2026
S.O. 343(E).- Whereas M/s POWERGRID Chitradurga Bellary Transmission Limited (Formerly
known as Chitradurga Bellary REZ Transmission Limited) having its registered office at B-9, Qutab
institutional Area, Katwaria Sarai, Hauz Khas, New Delhi -110016, has applied for authorization under
Section 164 of the Electricity Act, 2003 for laying of overhead transmission line included in the
transmission scheme for integration of Davangere/Chitradurga REZ and Bellary REZ in Karnataka.
And whereas, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power, Government of India vide
its File No. 25-17/73/2024-PG dated 05.08.2024 & 24.03.2025 had granted prior approval under section
68(1) of the Electricity Act, 2003 for laying of overhead transmission line included in the transmission
scheme for integration of Davangere/Chitradurga REZ and Bellary REZ in Karnataka.
M/s POWERGRID Chitradurga Bellary Transmission Limited had published notice for
transmission scheme in local newspapers Deccan Herald (in English & Hindi) dated 29.03.2025 along with
corrigendum dated 07.10.2025, Dakshin Bharat (in Hindi) dated 29.03.2025 along with corrigendum dated
07.10.2025, Vijayavani (In Kannada) dated 29.03.2025 along with corrigendum dated 07.10.2025 and in
Weekly Gazette of India dated 03.05.2025 along with corrigendum dated 18.10.2025 for the general public
to make observations/ representations on the proposed transmission route within two months from the date
of publication. Subsequently, M/s POWERGRID Chitradurga Bellary Transmission Limited has submitted
an affidavit dated 14.01.2026 declaring that no observation/ representation was received within two months
from the date of Publication in the official Gazette of Government of India.
And now the applicant has requested to confer upon him, all the powers under section 164 of the
Electricity Act, 2003, which the telegraph authority possess under the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 with
respect to the placing of telegraph lines and posts for the purpose of a telegraph established or maintained
by Government or to be so established or maintained for laying of electrical lines under the transmission
scheme “Transmission scheme for integration of Davangere/Chitradurga REZ and Bellary REZ in
Karnataka". The following overhead transmission line is covered under this scheme:
1. LILO of Narendra New – Madhugiri 765kV D/C line at Davanagere/ Chitradurga 765/400 kV PS {
A. 765 kV D/C Line from Existing 765 kV Narendra (New) -Madhugiri(Tumkur) line to 765/400kV
Davanagere SS (LOOP IN)
B. 765 kV D/C Line from Existing 765 kV Narendra (New) -Madhugiri(Tumkur) line to 765/400kV
Davanagere SS (LOOP OUT)}
2. Bellary PS- Davanagere / Chitradurga 400kv (Quad Acsr Moose) D/C Line
3. Termination of Narendra New – Madhugiri 765kV D/C line at Narendra New Substation &
Madhugiri substation for upgradation to its rated 765 kV voltage level (Presently charged with
400kV Voltage).
The overhead transmission line covered under the above scheme will pass through, over, around and
between the following villages, towns and cities of Karnataka:
I. The said LILO of Narendra New – Madhugiri 765kV D/C line at Davanagere/ Chitradurga 765/400

Now, after careful consideration, Ministry of Power, Government of India, under section 164 of the
Electricity Act, 2003, confers all the powers to M/s POWERGRID Chitradurga Bellary Transmission
Limited for laying above overhead transmission line, which telegraph authority possesses under the Indian
Telegraph Act, 1885 with respect to placing of telegraph lines and posts for the purposes of a telegraph
established or maintained, by Government or to be so established or maintained subject to following terms and
conditions for installing the above mentioned line, namely:
i. The approval is granted for 25 years.
ii. The Applicant shall have to seek the consent of the concerned authorities, i.e., local bodies,
Railways, National Highways, State Highways etc. before erection of proposed line.
iii. The Applicant shall have to follow regulations/ codes of the Appropriate Commission regarding
transmission, O&M, open access, etc., framed under the Electricity Act, 2003.
iv. The Applicant shall operate the line after approval of Electrical Inspector / Chief Electrical
Inspector of Central Government.
v. The approval is subject to compliance of the requirement of the provisions of the Electricity Act,
2003 and the rules made there under by the applicant.
vi. M/s POWERGRID Chitradurga Bellary Transmission Limited shall have to submit the requisite
clearances to Central Electricity Authority after obtaining the same from concerned authorities like
Civil Aviation, Defense etc., at the time of Electrical Inspection.
