The Legislative Department of the Ministry of Law and Justice, by notification S.O. 1799(E) dated 26th April 2024, in exercise of powers under sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), called upon the specified Parliamentary Constituencies across the States and Union territories of Bihar (including Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Saran and Hajipur), Jharkhand (Chatra, Kodarma, Hazaribagh), Maharashtra (including Dhule, Nashik and the six Mumbai constituencies), Odisha (including Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Aska), Uttar Pradesh (including Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Jhansi, Fatehpur), West Bengal (including Bangaon, Barrackpur, Howrah, Hooghly), Jammu & Kashmir (Baramulla) and Ladakh, to elect members to constitute a new House of the People upon expiration of the term of the Seventeenth House of the People, in accordance with the Act and the rules and orders made thereunder.
