Core Purpose

Indian Nursing Council withdraws recognition of Smt Veeramma School of Nursing, Karnataka to conduct GNM course due to deficiencies, effective from October 26, 2024.

Detailed Summary

The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has issued a withdrawal order concerning the recognition of Smt Veeramma School of Nursing in Karnataka for conducting the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course. This decision, effective from October 26, 2024, stems from significant deficiencies identified in a December 4, 2023 inspection report, particularly in clinical and teaching facilities. The INC had previously issued notices on May 3, 2024, to the Karnataka State Government and the nursing school, seeking recommendations and responses, none of which were received. Exercising powers under Section 14 of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947, the INC formally withdraws recognition. Graduates with GNM qualifications from this institution post-October 26, 2024, will be eligible for registration solely within Karnataka, subject to state government regulations.
