Core Purpose

The Indian Nursing Council declares that, effective September 11, 2025, any person holding a recognized qualification from certain identified nursing institutions in Jammu & Kashmir shall be entitled to be registered only within the State of Jammu & Kashmir.

Detailed Summary

The Indian Nursing Council, exercising powers under Section 14 of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947 (XLVIII of 1947), and specifically Section 14(3)(b), issued a Withdrawal Order on July 17, 2026. This order follows a notice no. 18-14/Govt./2024 - INC (65287) dated November 26, 2024, for withdrawal of recognition, which was sent to the Secretary (Health & Medical Education), Health & Medical Education Department, Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir, and the Jammu & Kashmir Nurses & Midwives Council. The notice requested recommendations regarding the suitability of nursing institutions previously recognized by the State Government and the Jammu & Kashmir Nurses & Midwives Council. As no remarks or recommendations were received, and based on the Indian Nursing Council's records indicating that these institutions failed to apply for statutory inspection for several years and were found deficient/unsuitable for conducting nursing programmes, the Council declared that with effect from September 11, 2025, any person holding a recognized qualification from the listed institution, specifically Military Hospital School Of Nursing, Jammu, shall be entitled to be registered only in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
