Core Purpose

Indian Nursing Council withdraws recognition of GNM Nursing School, West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, effective 26.10.2024, due to refusal of statutory inspection.

Detailed Summary

The Indian Nursing Council (Council) has issued a withdrawal order for the recognition of GNM Nursing School located in West Singhbhum, Chaibasa, Jharkhand, effective from October 26, 2024. This action is taken under Section 14 of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947. The basis for withdrawal is the college's refusal to permit statutory inspections by Council-appointed inspectors, despite multiple notices issued to the college and the Jharkhand state government's health department. The Council presumes that the refusal to allow inspection implies non-compliance with Council regulations and prescribed syllabus, deeming the institution unsuitable for providing nursing training. Consequently, individuals obtaining GNM qualifications from this institution after October 26, 2024, will only be eligible for registration as nurses within the State of Jharkhand.
