Amendment of laboratories notification.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change number S.O. 2340(E), dated the 16th June, 2021, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-ll, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), namely:- In the said notification,- (i) in paragraph 1, for the words “private laboratories”, the words “laboratories or institutes as environmental laboratories" shall be substituted; (ii) for paragraph 3, the following paragraph shall be substituted; namely:- "3. The recognition of laboratory shall be granted for a period of three years"; (iii) paragraph 4 shall be omitted; (iv) for paragraph 7, the following paragraph shall be substituted, namely:- "7. (1) The recognised laboratory shall participate in an all inter-laboratory comparison exercise conducted by the Central Pollution Control Board and a proficiency testing programme conducted by the proficiency testing provider certified under ISO/IEC: 17043, covering all the parameters under recognition, within two years from the date of recognition. (2) The Central Pollution Control Board shall make available the records and reports of the exercise in the public domain. (3) The recognised laboratory shall pay the applicable fee for the conduct of the exercise and the programme.". [F. No. Q-15018/13/2020-CPW] NARESH PAL GANGWAR, Addl. Secy.
