DRAFT NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 17th October , 2023
G.S.R. 754(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 6 and 25 of the Environment (Protection)
Act, 1986 (29 of 1986) the Central Government hereby makes the following draft rules, as required under sub -rule (3)
of rule 5 of the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1 986, for the information of the public likely to be affected thereby;
and notice is hereby given that the said draft notification shall be taken into consideration on or after the expiry of a
period of sixty days from the date on which copies of the Gazett e containing this notification are made available to the
public. Any person interested in making any objections or suggestions on the proposals contained in the draft
notification may forward the same in writing, for consideration of the Central Government within the period specified
above to the Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, Jor Bagh
Road, New Delhi -110003, or send it to the e -mail address: [email protected] and [email protected].
1. Short title and commencement .
(1) These rules may be called the Environment (Protection) Amendment Rules, 2023.
(2) They shall come into force on the expiry of a period of one year from the date of their publication in
the Official Gazette.
2. In the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986, in Schedule -l,
(i) At serial number 1 entries relating to ‘Caustic Soda shall be substituted, namely: -

B: Standard for water consumption & wastewater generation
Maximum Quantity of water consumption 5 m3 per ton of caustic soda production
Maximum Quantity of wastewater generation 1 m3 per ton of caustic soda production
