Detailed Summary

The Ministry of External Affairs, vide Notification G.S.R. 675(E) dated 15th September 2023 (File No. V.IV/551/11/2021), in exercise of powers under Section 24 of the Passports Act, 1967 (15 of 1967), notified the Passport (Amendment) Rules, 2023, effective on publication, amending Schedule I of the Passport Rules, 1980; the amendment substitutes the entry at Sl. No. 16, column (3), to list the jurisdiction as the districts of Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Dausa, Jaipur, Sikar, Nagaur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jalore, Sirohi, Pali, Ajmer and Tonk in the State of Rajasthan, and inserts a new entry Sl. No. 19A creating the Passport Office, Kota with jurisdiction over the districts of Sawai Madhopur, Bundi, Kota, Baran, Jhalwar, Bhilwara, Chhitorgarh, Rajasamand, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara and Pratapgarh in Rajasthan, along with the associated posts of Passport Officer, Deputy Passport Officer, Assistant Passport Officer, Senior Superintendent and Superintendent; the notification was signed by T. Armstrong Changsan, Joint Secretary (PSP) and Chief Passport Officer (CPO), and notes the principal rules were published vide G.S.R. 691(E) dated 11th December 1980 and last amended vide G.S.R. 356(E) dated 2nd June 2020.

V.IV/551/11/2021 ] MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 15th September, 2023 G.S.R. 675(E) .—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24 of the Passports Act, 1967 (15 of 1967), the Central Government hereby mak es the following rules further to amend the Passport Rules, 1980, namely: - 1. These rules ma y be called the Passport (Amendment) Rules, 2023. They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In SCHEDULE I to the Pass port Rules, 1980, - (a) against Sl. No. 16, in column (3), for the entries, the following entries shall be substituted, namely: - (3) “The districts of Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Dausa, Jaipur, Sikar, Nagaur, Bikaner, Jodhpur Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jalore, Sirohi, Pali, Ajmer, Tonk in the State of Rajasthan”; (b) after Sl. No. 19 and the entries relating thereto, the following shall be inserted, namely: - (1) (2) (3) 19 A.
