Detailed Summary

Notification S.O. 1739(E) dated 18th April 2024, issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department), records that it has been decided to hold a general election to constitute a new House of the People upon expiration of the term of the Seventeenth House of the People. In pursuance of sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the President calls upon the Parliamentary Constituencies listed in the Schedule, spanning the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, to elect their Members in accordance with the Act and rules made thereunder. The Schedule lists numerous named constituencies by state, including reserved seats such as Araku (ST), Amalapuram (SC), Bapatla (SC), Tirupati (SC), Chittoor (SC), Singhbhum (ST), Khunti (ST), Lohardaga (ST) and Palamu (SC).
