The Ministry of Power, by S.O. 2784(E) dated 15 July 2024, in exercise of powers under clause (a) of section 14 of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 (52 of 2001) and in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, further amended notification S.O. 1897(E) dated 26 May 2016 (as previously amended by S.O. 2369(E) dated 24 May 2022) governing star labelling of televisions. Under sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 2, a new Table 2.4, valid from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027, was inserted after Table 2.3, specifying Annual Energy Consumption (AEC) threshold equations, based on screen area (A), for star ratings of televisions with resolutions up to 1920x1080: 1 Star ((0.019 x A) + 2.63 < AEC <= (0.022 x A) + 2.63), 2 Star, 3 Star, 4 Star, and 5 Star (AEC <= (0.011 x A) + 2.63). The notification was signed by Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava, Chief Engineer, under file number 10/1/2022-EC-Part(1).
