Withdrawal order under section 14 of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947, restricting recognition of Tirupati Nursing College's GNM qualification.

Detailed Summary

The Indian Nursing Council issued a Withdrawal Order (F.No. 18-18/14786-INC, dated 22nd July 2024) under section 14 of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947 (XLVIII of 1947), concerning Tirupati Nursing College, Village Chakraipura, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh (recognized by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council to conduct the GNM course). The Council had earlier issued a withdrawal notice (No. 18-18/14786-INC dated 9th November 2022) to the Principal Secretary (Health & FW), Government of Madhya Pradesh, and to the college, seeking the State Government's recommendation on the institution's suitability, but received no response and no corrective action was taken by the institution. Based on an inspection report dated 20th May 2022 finding serious deficiencies in clinical and teaching facilities rendering the institution unable to run the GNM course, the Council, exercising powers under section 14(3)(b), declared that with effect from 23rd February 2023, any person holding a GNM qualification from Tirupati Nursing College shall be entitled to registration only in the State of Madhya Pradesh, subject to orders of the Madhya Pradesh state government. Signed by Lt. Col (Dr) Sarvjeet Kaur, Secretary, Indian Nursing Council (ADVT.-III/4/Exty./397/2024-25).
