NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 10th June, 2026
S.O. 2976(E). — In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of section 14 of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 (52 of 2001), the Central Government, in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, further to amend the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Power published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S.O. 4097 (E), dated the 27th December, 2017, namely:—
In the said notification -
(A) In paragraph 1, the following clause shall be substituted, namely: - 1. Every self-ballasted LED lamp having a rated power from 3 watts to 60 watts for general lighting services that works on above 50 V ac up to and including 250 V ac at 50 Hz and a dc voltage up to 1000 V being manufactured, commercially purchased or sold in India shall-
(i) meet all the performance requirements as specified in Indian Standard 16102 (part 2) with all amendments;
(ii) have Bureau of Indian Standards registration for Self-Ballasted LED Lamps for general lighting services as per IS 16102 (part 1).
(B) in paragraph 3, in sub-paragraph (3)
(i) in table 3.2 for the words, figures and letters “the 30th June, 2026", the words, figures and letters “the 31st December, 2026" shall be substituted.
(ii) after Table 3.2 the following tables shall be inserted, namely: -

(C) In paragraph 4, the following clause shall be substituted, namely: -
Testing and tolerance. - (1) For the purpose of determining the star level of a self-ballasted LED lamp, the test standards specified in Table 4.1, as per Indian Standard 16102 (part 2), with all amendments, shall be used, namely:

Note: The principal notification was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, section 3, sub-section (ii), vide notification number S.O. 1033 (E), dated the 9th March, 2018.
Effect will be applicable w.e.f. the 1st January, 2027
(2) There shall be no negative tolerance for the star rating levels.
(3) The scope for manufacturing tolerance and other variations shall be accounted by the manufacturer when determining the star rating keeping in view the following points for rounding off, -
(a) the values of power consumption (Watts), luminous flux (lumens), luminous efficacy (lm/W) shall be rounded off to nearest whole number upto one decimal places;
(b) all measured and calculated values shall be rounded off to the appropriate number of significant figures in accordance with IS 2:2022 (Rules for Rounding Off Numerical Values).

Note: The principal notification was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, section 3, sub-section (ii), vide notification number S.O. 4097 (E), dated the 27th December, 2017, and subsequently amended vide numbers S.O. 938 (E) the dated 21st February, 2019, S.O. 3631 (E) dated the 9th October, 2019, S.O. 2178 ((E) dated the 1st July, 2020 and S.O. 2793(E) dated the 27th, June 2023.

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 10th June, 2026
S.O. 2977(E). In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (b) and (d) of section 14 of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 (52 of 2001) and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Power, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S.O. 2792 (E), dated the 27th June, 2023, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, hereby specifies the self-ballasted LED lamps for general lighting services having rated power from 3 watts to 60 watts, that works on single phase alternating current supply up to and including 250V, 50 Hz and a dc voltage up to 1000 V for the purpose of the said Act and direct that any such appliances or class of appliances being manufactured or imported in India, shall display particulars on labels in accordance with the provisions of the said Act or the regulations made thereunder.
