These rules will come into force on July 14, 2025. The amendment substitutes rules 1 to 3 in Order II of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013. The new rules specify that Court offices shall generally be open daily from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (except partial Court working days, Saturdays, and holidays), with no urgent work admitted after 4:30 P.M. On Saturdays (except partial Court working days), offices will be open from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., with no urgent work admitted after 12 Noon. During partial Court working days, Christmas, and New Year holidays, offices will be open at times directed by the Chief Justice, unless those days are holidays for both the Court and its offices. The principal Supreme Court Rules, 2013, were originally published via G.S.R. 368(E) dated May 29, 2014, and subsequently amended by G.S.R. 670(E) dated September 18, 2019, G.S.R. 457(E) dated July 16, 2024, G.S.R. 688(E) dated November 5, 2024, and G.S.R. 163 (E) dated March 7, 2025. L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-14062025-263812 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (i) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 342] NEW DELHI, SATURDAY, JUNE 14, 2025/JYAISTHA 24, 1947 SUPREME COURT OF INDIA NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 14th June, 2025 G.S.R. 385(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by article 145 of the Constitution of India and all other enabling provisions in this behalf, the Supreme Court, with the approval of the President, hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Supreme Court Rules, 2013 namely:- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Supreme Court (Amendment) Rules, 2025. (2) They shall come into force on the 14th day of July, 2025. 2. In the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, in Order II, for rules 1 to 3, the following rules shall be substituted, namely:- "1. Except during partial Court working days and on Saturdays and holidays, the offices of the Court, shall, subject to any order by the Chief Justice, be open daily from 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M., but no work, unless of an urgent nature, shall be admitted after 4.30 P.M. 2. The offices of the Court shall, except during partial Court working days, be open on Saturdays from 10.00 A.M. to 1.00 P.M., but no work, unless of an urgent nature, shall be admitted after 12 Noon. 3. Except on the days which are holidays both for the Court and the offices of the Court, the offices of the Court shall be open during partial Court working days and Christmas and New Year holidays of the Court at such times as the Chief Justice may direct".
