The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, through Resolution S.O. 4151(E) dated 10th September, 2025, announced the reconstitution of its Hindi Salahkar Samiti. The Committee will include both Non-Official and Official Members. The Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change will serve as Chairperson, and the Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change as Deputy Chairperson. Non-official members include four Parliament Members nominated by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, two Parliament Members nominated by the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, one member from Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras, one from Kendriya Sachivalaya Hindi Parishad, four members nominated by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and three members nominated by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs. Official members include various Secretaries, Director Generals, Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, and Heads of offices from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, with the Joint Secretary or Equivalent Official Language Incharge, MoEF&CC, serving as Member-Secretary. The Samiti's function is to advise on the implementation of Official Language provisions in the Constitution of India, the Official Languages Act and Rules, Kendriya Hindi Samiti policy decisions, and directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language, as well as to advise the Ministry on the progressive use of Hindi. The tenure of the Samiti is three years from its constitution date, with specific conditions for member tenure and allowance provisions. Members of Parliament are entitled to TA/DA as per the Member of Parliament Pay, Allowances and Pension Act, 1954, while other Non-Official Members receive allowances as per Department of Official Language O.M. No. 11/20034/4/86-OL(A-II) dated 22nd January, 1987, and other government rules.

Functions of the Samiti Work of the above said Samiti will be to render advice in regard to the implementation of the provisions relating to Official Language as contained in the Constitution of India, Official Languages Act and Rules and Policy decisions of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti, functioning under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Prime Minister and directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language relating to Official Language and also to advise this Ministry on the matters relating to progressive use of Hindi. III. Tenure (i) The term of the Samiti will remain for a period of 03 (three) years from the date of its constitution. (ii) If any member is nominated during the tenure of the Samiti, his/her tenure will be the remaining tenure of the Samiti. (iii) The tenure of the Samiti can be curtailed or extended in special circumstances. (iv) Members of Parliament who are Members of this Samiti will cease to be the members as soon as they cease to be Member of Parliament. (v) Ex-officio Official Members of the Samiti shall continue as Members only so long as they hold the office by virtue of which they are Members of the Samiti. IV. Travelling and Other Allowances Members of Parliament will be entitled for TA and DA in accordance with the provisions made in Member of Parliament Pay, Allowances and Pension Act, 1954 as amended from time to time. Other Non- Official Members will be paid travelling and daily allowances for attending the meetings of the Samiti as per the directives given in the Department of Official Language O.M.
