The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, through notification S.O. 89(E) dated 6th January, 2026, amends its previous notification S.O. 3921(E) dated 26th August, 2025. This amendment is made by the Central Government under sub-section (3) of section 3 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), and in pursuance of S.O. 1533(E) dated 14th September, 2006, from the erstwhile Ministry of Environment and Forests. The changes involve the substitution of existing clauses: in paragraph 1, clause (iii) is replaced with 'Secretary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh - Member Secretary.'; and in paragraph 4, clause (vi) under both 'State Level Expert Appraisal Committee-1' and 'State Level Expert Appraisal Committee-2' is replaced with 'Conservator of Forests, Varanasi Circle, Varanasi - Member Secretary.'

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 3 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986) and in pursuance of the notification of the Government of India in the erstwhile Ministry of Environment and Forests, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S.O. 1533(E), dated the 14th September, 2006, the Central Government hereby makes amendment in the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change vide number S.O. 3921 (E), dated the 26th August, 2025, namely:- In the said notification, - (1) In paragraph 1, for clause (iii) and the entries relating thereto, the following clause entries shall be substituted, namely: "(iii) Secretary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change - Member Secretary.".
