This Notification, S.O. 1927(E) dated 7th May 2024, issued by the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice, records that it has been decided to hold a general election to constitute a new House of the People upon expiration of the term of the Seventeenth House of the People, and, in pursuance of Section 14(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the President calls upon the Parliamentary Constituencies listed for the States of Bihar (Nalanda, Patna Sahib), Himachal Pradesh (Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, Shimla), Jharkhand (Rajmahal, Dumka, Godda), Odisha (Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur), Punjab (thirteen constituencies including Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Ludhiana), Uttar Pradesh (eight constituencies including Gorakhpur and Ballia), West Bengal (fourteen constituencies including Ghazipur, Varanasi, Diamond Harbour and Kolkata Dakshin/Uttar) and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, to elect their Members in accordance with the Act and rules made thereunder, and is signed by Diwakar Singh, Joint Secretary and Legislative Counsel, under F. No. H-11024(4)/2023-Leg.II.
