Detailed Summary

The Central Government, in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 176 of the Electricity Act, 2003 (36 of 2003), hereby makes the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) (Amendment) Rules, 2025. These rules shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. The amendment substitutes the words "generating companies inter-state transmission licensees" with "generating companies, transmission licensees" in rule 1, sub-rule (3) of the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) Rules, 2022. This notification is issued by the Ministry of Power vide G.S.R. 288(E) on the 2nd May, 2025. The principal rules were published vide G.S.R 416 (E), dated the 3rd June 2022, and previously amended vide G.S.R. 146(E), dated the 28th February, 2024.

(1) These rules may be called the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) (Amendment) Rules, 2025. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) Rules, 2022, in rule 1, in sub-rule (3), for the words "generating companies inter-state transmission licensees", the words "generating companies, transmission licensees" shall be substituted.
