The company also submitted an undertaking on May 21, 2026, confirming the proposed lines are outside the Revised Great Indian Bustard (GIB) Priority Area of Rajasthan and committed to complying with the Supreme Court of India's judgment dated December 19, 2025, in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 838 of 2019, and any subsequent directions. The authorization is valid for 25 years, subject to conditions including obtaining consent from concerned authorities (local bodies, Railways, National Highways, State Highways), adherence to Appropriate Commission regulations/codes, approval from the Electrical Inspector/Chief Electrical Inspector of the Central Government, compliance with the Electricity Act, 2003, and submission of clearances (e.g., Civil Aviation, Defense) to the Central Electricity Authority. The lines will pass through various villages, towns, and cities across Barmer, Balotara, Jalore, Sirohi, and Jaisalmer districts in Rajasthan.

And whereas, Ministry of Power, Government of India vide its File No. 25-17/81/2024-PG dated 27.08.2024 had granted prior approval under section 68(1) of the Electricity Act, 2003 for laying of transmission line included in the transmission scheme, "Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part-2: 5.5 GW) (Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex): Part F". M/s POWERGRID Barmer I Transmission Limited had published notice for transmission scheme in local newspapers, The Times of India (in English) and Rajasthan Patrika (in Hindi) dated 29.03.2025, revised newspaper publications dated 02.05.2025 and corrigendum dated 26.02.2026 and in Weekly Gazette of India dated 24.05.2025 and corrigendum dated 21.03.2026 for the general public to make observations/representations on the proposed transmission route within two months from the date of publication. Subsequently, M/s POWERGRID Barmer I Transmission Limited has submitted an affidavit dated 15.06.2026 declaring that Four (04) observations/ representations were received within two months from the date of publication in the official Gazette of Government of India and the same have been answered by M/s POWERGRID Barmer I Transmission Limited and that no further observations/ representations were received. POWERGRID Barmer I Transmission Limited had submitted an Undertaking dated 21.05.2026 stating that the route of the proposed overhead transmission line(s) is located outside the Revised Great Indian Bustard (GIB) Priority Area of Rajasthan, as referred to in the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India dated 19.12.2025 in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 838 of 2019; the applicant has further undertaken to comply with all directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court as contained in the said judgment as well as with any subsequent directions issued by the competent authorities in pursuance of the above order by the Hon'ble Supreme Court, and has also stated that the transmission line alignment has been optimized, in such a way that they share maximum common stretch to the extent possible. And now the applicant has requested to confer upon him, all the powers under section 164 of the Electricity Act, 2003, which the telegraph authority possess under the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 with respect to the placing of telegraph lines and posts for the purpose of a telegraph established or maintained by Government or to be so established or maintained for laying of transmission lines for M/s POWERGRID Barmer I Transmission Limited. The approval is granted for 25 years. ii. The Applicant shall have to seek the consent of the concerned authorities, i.e., local bodies, Railways, National Highways, State Highways etc. before erection of proposed line. iii. The Applicant shall have to follow regulations/codes of the Appropriate Commission regarding transmission, O&M, open access, etc., framed under the Electricity Act, 2003. iv. The Applicant shall operate the line after approval of Electrical Inspector / Chief Electrical Inspector of Central Government. v. The approval is subject to compliance of the requirement of the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003 and the rules made there under by the applicant. vi. M/s POWERGRID Barmer I Transmission Limited shall have to submit the requisite clearances to Central Electricity Authority after obtaining the same from concerned authorities like Civil Aviation, Defense etc., at the time of Electrical Inspection. vii. In case, the route of above overhead lines (or some portion of the route of above overhead line) falls in the Revised Great Indian Bustard (GIB) area, the applicant has to comply with the directions of Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in its order dated 19.12.2025 in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 838 of 2019 and any other directions given by competent authorities in pursuance of the above order by Hon'ble Supreme Court.
