Core Purpose

Indian Nursing Council withdraws recognition of Dr. A.K. Memorial College of Nursing for conducting ANM course due to identified deficiencies, effective from 21.05.2024.

Detailed Summary

The Indian Nursing Council issues a withdrawal order for the recognition of Dr. A.K. Memorial College of Nursing, located in Uttar Pradesh, to conduct the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) course. This decision follows a notice issued on 16.01.2024 to the Uttar Pradesh government's Department of Health and Family Welfare seeking recommendations on the institution's suitability, and a similar notice to the college itself. Neither the state government nor the college provided recommendations or responses. An inspection report dated 19.07.2023 highlighted significant deficiencies in the institution, particularly concerning clinical and teaching facilities, rendering it incapable of running the ANM course. Effective 21.05.2024, recognition is withdrawn, and ANM qualifications obtained from this college will only permit registration within Uttar Pradesh.
