The Ministry of Railways, through its South Eastern Railway (Construction Organization), issued Notification S.O. 3864(E) on July 13, 2026, from Kolkata. In exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), Chapter-IVA, the Central Government declared its intention to acquire land for the public purpose of executing, maintaining, managing, and operating the “Deshpran-Nandigram (17.0 Km.) new line” as a “Special Railway Project.” This land is located in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. Any person interested in the said land may object within thirty days from the date of publication of this notification in the official Gazette, as per sub-section (1) of section 20D of the said Act. Objections must be made in writing to the Competent Authority, specifically the Additional District Magistrate (Land Acquisition), Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, at the Office of the District Magistrate & Collector, Purba Medinipur, Nimtori, Tamluk, PIN- 721648. The Competent Authority will provide an opportunity for hearing to the objector and, after inquiry, will either allow or disallow the objections, with such order being final under Sub-Section (2) of section 20D. The schedule provides a brief description of 108 plots of land, with or without structures, across various mouzas in Nandigram-I, Nandigram-II, and Bhagwanpur-II Blocks, falling under P.S: Nandigram and P.S: Bhupatinagar, totaling 15.9057 acres (6.436949 hectares), comprising private, common, and government land of various types including 'Jal', 'Kala', 'Sasan', 'Pukur', 'Kancha Rasta', 'Doba', 'Khana / Khai', 'Jal/Dhosa', and 'Bastu'. Land plans and other details are available for inspection at the Competent Authority's office. The notification was signed by Hari Prakash Tripathi, Chief Admin. NOTIFICATION
Kolkata, the 13th July, 2026
S.O. 3864(E).— In exercise of Power conferred by sub-section (1) of section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989
(24 of 1989), Chapter-IVA (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government, after being satisfied that for
the public purpose, the land, the brief description of which is given in the schedule below, is required for execution,
maintenance, management and operation of “Deshpran-Nandigram (17.0 Km.) new line” as “Special Railway Project" in
the district of Purba Medinipur in the state of West Bengal, hereby declares its intention to acquire such land.

Any person interested in the said land may, within a period of thirty days from the date of publication of the
notification in the official Gazette, object, under sub-section (1) of the section 20D of the said Act to the acquisition and
use of such land for the aforesaid purpose.

Every such objection shall be made to the Competent Authority, viz.Additional District Magistrate (Land
Acquisition), Purba Medinipur, West Bengal in his office, located at Office of the District Magistrate & Collector, Purba
Medinipur, Nimtori, Tamluk, PIN- 721648 by writing, and shall set out the grounds thereof and Competent Authority
shall give the objector an opportunity of being heard, either in person or by a legal practitioner, and may, after hearing all
such objections and after making such further enquiry, if any, as the competent authority thinks necessary, by order, either
allow or disallow the objections as per Sub-Section (2) of section 20D of the said Act.

Any order made by the Additional District Magistrate (Land Acquisition), Purba Medinipur, West Bengal-cum-
Competent Authority under Sub-Section (2) of section 20D of the said Act shall be final.

The land plans & the other details of the land covered under notification are available and can be inspected by the
interested person at the office of the competent Authority.
