This notification, S.O. 3141(E), issued by the Ministry of Railways (Eastern Railway, Construction Department) on June 16, 2026, declares the acquisition of land for the Naihati-Ranaghat 3rd Line Special Railway Project in the Nadia district of West Bengal. This declaration is made in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) and (2) of Section 20E of the Railway (Amendment) Act, 2008. It follows an earlier notification, S.O. 5980(E), dated December 24, 2025, published in the Gazette of India, which declared the Central Government's intention to acquire the land under sub-section (1) of section 20A of the said Act. The substance of the intention notification was published in "Eisamay Partika & Statesman Partika" on January 1, 2026, as required by sub-section (4) of section 20A. Subsequently, 67 objection petitions were received and disposed of under section 20(D) of the Railway (Amendment) Act, 2008, after proper hearings. The Competent Authority submitted its report to the Central Government in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 20E. NOTIFICATION
Kolkata, the 16th June, 2026

S.O. 3141(E).— whereas by the notification of The Govt. of India in The Ministry of Railways number S.O. 5980(E), dated the 24th December, 2025 published in the Gazette of India, extraordinary part II, section 3, sub-section (II) issued under sub-section (1) of section 20A of the Railway (Amendment) Act, 2008 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government declaration its intention to acquire the land specified in the schedule annexed here to required for the purpose of execution, maintenance, management and operation of the Special Railway Project, namely Naihati-Ranaghat 3rd Line in the district of Nadia in the State of West Bengal.
And whereas the substance of the said notification has been published in "Eisamay Partika & Statesman Partika" on 1 January, 2026 under sub-section (4) of section 20A of the said Act.
Subsequently, 67 objection petitions received by this office after Publication of 20A Notification. All petitions are disposed of u/s 20(D) of the Railway (Amendment) Act, 2008 by conducting proper hearing after servicing the notices.
And whereas in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the Competent Authority has submitted its report of the Central Government.
Now, therefore, upon receipt of the said report of the Competent Authority and in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares that the land specified in the said schedule should be acquired for the aforesaid purpose.
And further, in pursuance of sub-section (2) of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares that on publication of this declaration in the Officials Gazette, the land specified in the said schedule shall vest absolutely in the Central Government, free form all encumbrance.
