                Detailed Summary
            

            
The Ministry of Railways, via Notification S.O. 2340(E) dated 8th May, 2026, issued a notice under Section 20E of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), declaring the acquisition of lands. This follows a previous notification, S.O. 13(E) dated 2nd January, 2026, which declared the Central Government's intention to acquire land under sub-section (1) of section 20A of the said Act. The acquisition is for the "Construction of Road Over Bridge in lieu of closing of manned LC No ML-447 at Km 786/3-5 between Sigdam - Cheepurupalli on Main Line of Waltair Division" Special Railway Project in the Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh. The substance of the intention notification was published in local newspapers, "ANDHRA JYOTI" (Telugu) and "NEW INDIAN EXPRESS" (English), both on 05th February, 2026, as per sub-section (4) of section 20A, with no objections received. Following a report from the Competent Authority under sub-section (1) of section 20E, the Central Government now declares the lands specified in the annexed schedule shall be acquired. Further, in accordance with sub-section (2) of section 20E, the lands will vest absolutely in the Central Government free from all encumbrances upon publication of this notification. NOTIFICATION

NOTICE UNDER SECTION 20E OF THE RAILWAY ACT, 1989
S.O. 2340(E). - Whereas, by the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Railways (East
Coast Railway, Construction Organisation), Notification number, S.O.13(E). dated 2nd January, 2026 published in
Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, section-3 Sub-section (ii), dated 2nd January, 2026 (herein after referred to as
the said notification) and issued under sub-section (1) of section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989) (herein
after referred to as the said Act), the Central Government declares its intention to acquire the land specified in the
schedule annexed to the said notification for the purpose of execution, maintenance, management and operation of
Special Railway Project, namely, “Construction of Road Over Bridge in lieu of closing of manned LC No ML-447
at Km 786/3-5 between Sigdam - Cheepurupalli on Main Line of Waltair Division" in the Vizianagaram district
state of Andhra Pradesh.
And whereas, the substance of the said notification was published in daily local newspapers namely "ANDHRA
JYOTI" in Telugu (Visakhapatnam Edition) on dated 05th February, 2026 and “NEW INDIAN EXPRESS" in English
(Visakhapatnam Edition) dated 05th February, 2026 under sub- section (4) of section 20A of the said Act and whereas
no objection has been received from any person by the competent authority.
And whereas, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the Competent Authority has
submitted its report to the Central Government.
Now therefore, upon receipt of the report of the Competent Authority, and in exercise of the powers conferred by
sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares that the lands specified in the
schedule annexed here to shall be acquired for the aforesaid purpose;
And further, in pursuance of sub-section (2) of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares
that on publication of the notification in the official Gazette, the land specified in the schedule annexed here to shall
vest absolutely in the Central Government free from all encumbrances.
SCHEDULE
Brief description of the land to be acquired, with or without structures, falling within the Special Railway
Project, namely "Construction of Road Over Bridge in lieu of closing of manned LC No ML-447 at Km 786/3-5
between Sigdam - Cheepurupalli on Main Line of Waltair Division” in the Vizianagaram district state of
