His vision and actions for effective unifica tion of the country and ensuring judicious harmony between internal security framework and regional diversity, laid the strong foundation of New India. Through tireless efforts, he brought geographical as well as administrative unification of our country. Therefore, Government of India hereby decides to declare and commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel every year, i.e. 31st October, as “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” to reaffirm our commitment towards preserving and enhancing the security, unity and integrity of the country.
