By notification S.O. 3827(E) dated 25th August 2023, the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), exercising powers under sub-section (1) of section 70 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000), declared the computer resources relating to the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and Next Generation e-ticketing (NGeT), being Critical Information Infrastructure of Indian Railways, and the computer resources of their associated dependencies, to be Protected Systems for the purposes of the Act; under sub-section (2) of section 70, the Central Government authorised access to the Protected Systems by any designated employee authorised by Indian Railways, any authorised team members of a contractual managed service provider or third-party vendor authorised by Indian Railways on a need-based basis, and any consultant, regulator, government official, auditor or stakeholder authorised by Indian Railways on a case-to-case basis; the notification took effect from the date of publication in the Official Gazette; issued under F. L. -33004/99 EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 3666] NEW DELH I, TUE SDAY , AUGUST 29, 2023/ BHADRA 7, 1945 CG-DL-E-29082023-248395 MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (Railway Board) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 2 5th August, 2023 S.O. 3 827(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub -section (1) of section 70 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000), the Central G overnment hereby declares the computer resources relating to the following railway systems, being Critical Information Infrastructure of Indian Railways and the computer resources of its associated dependencies to be Protected Systems for the pur poses of the said Act, namely: - ➢ Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and Next Generation e -ticketing (NGeT). 2. Sub-section (2) of section 70 of the Information Technology Act 2000 (21 of 2000), the Central Government authorizes the following personnel t o access the Protected Systems, namely: - (a) any designated employee authorised by Indian Railways. (b) any authorised team members of contractual managed service provider or third -party vendor who have been authorised by the Indian Railways for ne ed based access; and (c) any consultant, regulator, government official, auditor and stakeholder authorised by Indian Railways on case to case basis. 3.
