The Ministry of Home Affairs, vide S.O. 1581(E) dated 28th March 2024, recites that, in exercise of powers under sub-sections (1) and (3) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), the Central Government had declared four factions of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) - JKPL (Mukhtar Ahmed Waza), JKPL (Bashir Ahmad Tota), JKPL (Ghulam Mohammad Khan @Sopori, also known as Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Political League), and JKPL (Aziz Sheikh) led by Yaqoob Sheikh - as unlawful associations vide notification S.O. 1415(E) dated 15th March 2024; now, in exercise of powers under section 42 of the said Act, the Central Government directs that all powers exercisable by it under section 7 and section 8 of the Act shall also be exercised by the State Governments and the Union Territory administrations in relation to the said unlawful associations; issued under File No. 14017/33/2024/NI-MFO and signed by Praveen Vashista, Additional Secretary.

2317 GI/202 4 (1) EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 1500] NEW DELH I, THURS DAY , MARCH 28, 2024 /CHAITRA 8, 194 6 CG-DL-E-28032024-253438 MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 28 th March, 2024 S.O. 1581 (E).—Whereas, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub -sections (1) and (3) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), the Centr al Government declared four factions of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) namely JKPL (Mukhtar Ahmed Waza), JKPL (Bashir Ahmad Tota), JKPL (Ghulam Mohammad Khan @Sopori) also known as Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Political League and JKPL (Aziz Sheikh) led by Yaqoob Sheikh, as unlawful associations vide notification number S.O. 1415(E) dated the 15th March, 2024, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part -II, Section -3, Sub -section (ii) dated the 15th March, 2024. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 42 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967) (herein after referred to as the said Act), the Central Government hereby directs that all powers exercisable by it under section 7 and section 8 of the sa id Act shall also be exercised by the State Governments and the Union territory administrations in relation to the above said unlawful associations.
