The Ministry of Home Affairs issued Notification S.O. 3457(E) on June 25, 2026, stating that in pursuance of clause (1) of article 239 of the Constitution, the President has directed that the Administrator (whether known as the Lieutenant Governor or the Administrator) of the Union territories of National Capital Territory of Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Lakshadweep, Ladakh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu shall, subject to the control of the President and until further order, exercise the powers and discharge the functions of the State Government under the provisions of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982 (66 of 1982), within their respective Union territory. This directive requires concurrence with the Hon'ble Chief Justice of the High Court having jurisdiction over the respective Union territories.
