A draft of these amendments was previously published as G.S.R. 136 (E) on 17th February, 2026, in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, PartII, Section3, Sub-Section (i), with copies made available to the public on 19th February, 2026, inviting objections and suggestions for fifteen days. No objections or suggestions were received. The key amendment is the insertion of the phrase "and in supersession of the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2017, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession" in the fourth paragraph of the preamble of the principal rules. These amending rules come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. The principal rules, the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2025, were originally published on 10th November, 2025, vide notification G.S.R. 829(E) dated 7th November, 2025.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-23072026-274731 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (i) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 588] NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, JULY 21, 2026/ASHADHA 30, 1948 MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 17th July, 2026 G.S.R. 647(E).— Whereas, the following draft of certain rules further to amend the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2025, were published, as required by section 34 of the said Act, vide number G.S.R. 136 (E), dated the 17th February, 2026, in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, PartII, Section3, Sub-Section (i), for inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby, before the expiry of the period of fifteen days from the date on which the copies of the Official Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public; And whereas, copies of the Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public on the 19th February, 2026. And whereas, no objections or suggestions have been received from the public in respect of draft rules within the period specified; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 11, 12, 19, Sub-section (4) of section 25, sections 30 and 33 of the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024 (16 of 2024, the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2025; namely:- Rules 1. (1) These rules may be called the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) (Amendment) Rules, 2026. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the fourth paragraph of the preamble, after the words, figures and brackets, the words, brackets and figures "and in supersession of the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2017, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession", shall be inserted.
