Key amendments include modifying rule 45(2) to substitute "send it to Railway Board" for existing text. Rule 47, concerning Enlistment Standards, has been entirely replaced, specifying distinct minimum physical standards for Executive Cadre (Height 170 cms, Chest Unexpanded 80 cms, Expanded 85 cms, at par with Central Armed Police Force recruitment standards) and other than Executive Cadre (Height 165 cms, Chest Unexpanded 80 cms, Expanded 85 cms), with provisions for relaxations for those under twenty years and separate standards for female candidates by the Director-General. Rule 48 is amended to differentiate "Constable other than Executive Cadre" and introduces a new sub-rule 48.3 for Constable (Executive) direct recruitment, requiring candidates to be above 18 years but below 23 years of age on the recruitment notification date and to have passed High School Examination or equivalent. Rule 49 specifies that selection for direct recruitment to Sub-Inspectors and Constables in Executive Cadre will follow the Staff Selection Commission's procedure for Central Armed Police Forces, and distinguishes "Constables except Constable (Executive)". Finally, Rule 51 is amended by renumbering sub-rule 51.1 as 51.1A and inserting a new sub-rule 51.1, mandating medical examination for Executive Cadre posts by Medical Officers of Central Armed Police Forces or Grade-I Medical Officers/Assistant Surgeons of Central/State Government Hospitals/Dispensaries, and modifying sub-rule 51.1A for non-executive cadre candidates. The principal rules have been amended 34 times previously, with the latest amendment being G.S.R. 500(E) dated 20th July, 2021.
