Detailed Summary

Issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 22nd March 2024 (S.O. 1513(E)), the notification recites that the Central Government had earlier declared the Jammu Kashmir National Front (JKNF) an unlawful association under sub-sections (1) and (3) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), vide notification S.O. 1296(E) dated 12th March 2024. Now, in exercise of powers under section 42 of the same Act, the Central Government directs that all powers exercisable by it under sections 7 and 8 of the Act, in relation to the above unlawful association, shall also be exercised by the State Governments and the Union territory administrations. 2190 GI/202 4 (1) EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 1444] NEW DELH I, FRIDAY , MARCH 22, 2024 /CHAITRA 2, 194 6 CG-DL-E-22032024-253311 MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 22nd March, 2024 S.O. 1513(E). —Whereas, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub -sections (1) and (3) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 196 7), the Central Government declared the Jammu Kashmir National Front (JKNF), as an unlawful association vide notification number S.O. 1296(E) dated the 12th March, 2024, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part -II, Section -3, Sub -section (ii) , dated the 12th March, 2024. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 42 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967) (herein after referred to as the said Act), the Central Government hereby directs that all the powers exercisable by it under section 7 and section 8 of the said Act shall also be exercised by the State Governments and the Union territory administrations in relation to the above said unlawful association.
