The Election Commission of India, under sub-rule (2) of Rule 11 of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, publishes, by notification dated 21 February 2024, Form 7B (List of Contesting Candidates under Rule 10(1)) for the election to the Council of States by the elected Members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly; the list names 11 candidates of recognised national and state political parties, comprising eight affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (Amarpal Maurya, Tejveer Singh, Naveen Jain, Kunwar Ratanjeet Pratap Narayan Singh, Sadhna Singh, Sudhanshu Trivedi, Sangeeta and Sanjay Seth) and three with the Samajwadi Party (Alok Ranjan, Jaya Amitabh Bachchan and Ramji Lal Suman), together with their addresses, with no candidates listed from registered but unrecognised political parties or as other/independent candidates; the notification, F.No. 318/CS-Multi/2/Uttar Pradesh/2024, is signed by Suman Kumar Das, Secy.
